2011 was worst year in history for "natural catastrophes"

In 2010 I wrote about catastrophe after catastrophe striking this nation as part of God's judgment upon this country. Then in June of last year I wrote in my message "Coming Out of the Eye of the Storm", that judgment had already begun and was going to get worse and worse. In a news report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration today I read that 2011 was "extreme" in terms of weather and that there were 14 disasters that cost over $1 billion each, with a total loss of $55 billion, the highest in the history of the USA. In addition, mass murders increased dramatically last year.

Now most people will consider this as just bad luck, bad timing. But some of realize that it the hand of God causing these disasters.

Jer 6:19 - Hear O earth: "Behold, I am bringing disaster on this people, the fruit of their plans, because they have not listened to My words. And as for My law, they have rejected it also".

Ezek 6:10 - "Then they will know that I am the Lord. I have not said in vain that I would inflict this disaster upon them."

Ezek 7:5 - Thus says the Lord God "A disaster, a unique disaster, behold it is coming"

Jer 11:14 - "Therefore do not pray for this people nor lift up a cry or prayer for them; for I will not listen when they call to Me because of their disaster."

This year, 2012, the disasters will only get worse. What will those disasters be? I believe that this year we will see a series of massive earthquakes in this nation, a continuation of the extreme drought in many of our southern states, more mass killings and, worst of all, the solar storms hitting the nation later this year.

Recently, a friend loaned me several books by Terri Blackstock who, starting in 2005, wrote a series of four Christian mystery novels dealing with a global blackout caused by "pulses" from some type of star. These novels deal with one community in Alabama and how they deal with this situation. How the faith of many people is tested and how the faith of some is strengthened during this time. The books speak truthfully of how much God demands of His people during these times, how difficult life can be.

Terri was prophetic when she wrote these books and I doubt that she knew it. Although the blackouts will be caused by solar storms and will not affect the entire globe, they will destroy all electricity and electronics in the areas that God has chosen for them to impact. The four novels in the series are "Last Light", "Night Light", "True Light" and "Dawn's Light". They are in paperback and should be available at your local library.

The reason I find them so intriguing and hard to put down is that I can see that the community portrayed in these books is probably very similar to the places of refuge that God will set up for His people during the coming years. The problems that these people experience are things that we will also have to deal with in the near future, even in the places of refuge. If you are able to, I highly recommend that you read them.

As always, my brothers and sisters, continue in the faith, in reading the Bible and in prayer.
