Forgive Me

As those of you who follow my blog know, last year I wrote a message in which I said that Obama would not be reelected. Obviously I was wrong.

This was part of the message:

"In Tom Clancy's latest fiction novel "Dead Or Alive", he says about a mythical President (even though he did not know he was speaking prophetically). 'So what happens when a weak man of flawed character is faced with a cascade of catastrophes? He crumbles of course, and with him the nation'. So also will Obama, a weak man of flawed character, crumble when God's wrath is poured out upon this nation shortly".

That part will still come to pass. The part I was wrong about was the timing of it. I felt that the Lord showed me that it would happen before the election, leading to Obama's defeat. Yes, I missed the Lord on that. It's something that no matter how hard I try to guard against it, it happens from time to time. I remember that even David Wilkerson, who was God's foremost prophet to this nation, missed it from time to time.

Why do prophets miss the Lord from time to time? I think the main reason is that we feel a responsibility to warn the people when we see trouble coming - that is the job of a watchman, which is what we are. But as human beings, sometimes we go further than we should or even miss the Lord completely. Sometimes we try to fit the warning into what we think God's time frame is going to be - that is what usually causes us to err. Sometimes we let our own thoughts and feelings come into play. Other times I'm sure that God deliberately lets us err because that keeps us humble, humility being an essential element of a prophet. There is no place in our training that allows any type of pride, God makes sure of that.

So this was another case in which I missed the Lord. It's not the first and I'm sure it won't be the last. In my heart I want to try to let people know when I see calamities coming so that they can be prepared. But, as Jeremiah said in Jeremiah 17:9 "The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?" Certainly not I. All I can do is continue to seek the Lord and try to let the people know what I feel He has shown me. When I am wrong please forgive me and have patience with me. When I am right then thank the Lord that He warned you ahead of time.

This also is a good lesson for everyone to follow no man, follow the Lord only. Men are human and make mistakes, no matter how spiritual they are. Become a disciple of no one but Jesus.
